The Millionaire Mind: Can we really think and grow rich?

My fascination with the mind and the Law of Attraction is continuously bringing about new questions in my life. Is it entirely the mind that determines who becomes rich and who becomes poor? Which is more powerful, the collective consciousness or the mind of one individual? These questions have led to greater and greater seeking. Lately I’ve been hearing a lot of excitement about two certain books. Over and over I kept stumbling across them. They are: Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich and T. Harv Eker’s Secrets of the Millionaire Mind. Finally enough tidbits of information sparked enough interest in me that I decided to purchase both books.

Think

I heard the most intriguing story about the book Think and Grow Rich. As an Abraham-Hicks student I’ve listened to and read much of the teachings of Abraham through Esther and Jerry Hicks. Before Esther and Jerry met, Jerry was a student of Think and Grow Rich, had a lot of great success with the teachings, and had even gone on to try to teach the lessons in the book to others. Not everyone would have success. Unable to figure out why some people would have wild success with Think and Grow Rich teachings while others would not, Jerry set out on a mission to find the answer to that question. Later, still on this quest for answers, he met and married Esther. To make a long story short, over time they came to realize that Esther could channel nonphysical energy, a collection of master teachers they call Abraham. Years after the Abraham teachings about us all being vibrational beings, the Law of Attraction, Deliberate Creation, and the Art of Allowing had come about, Jerry discovered the truth about Think and Grow Rich. The original copy of the book, as Napoleon Hill wrote it, had been revised. Certain words and pieces of information were missing. So what was omitted?

The word vibration.

I thought this was so interesting, so I did a search and you can actually purchase Think and Grow Rich in its restored, original form. Mine should be arriving Friday. If you are interested in purchasing it for yourself, just search for Think and Grow Rich- The original version, restored and revised, now fully annotated and indexed. I read through the reviews and one of the customer reviews did discuss the addition of the word vibration in this copy, so I’m pretty excited to read this book.

Money

Now, as for the Secrets of the Millionaire Mind…

I’ve only just started reading this book and I’m excited by just about every single page I’ve read so far. It blends new and fascinating information with what I already know to be true about the Law of Attraction. See, it has sort of become my mission to debunk and dissolve the starving artist myth. I grew up believing that you couldn’t make money as an artist and these subconscious beliefs prevented me from being successful in my first two art business attempts. This book has expanded my awakening to the power of the mind and especially the power our subconscious programming has over the results of our life.

For example, this Wealth Principle from Secrets of the Millionaire Mind:

If your motivation for acquiring money or success comes from a nonsupportive root such as fear, anger, or the need to “prove” yourself, your money will never bring you happiness.

Why? Because you can’t solve any of these issues with money. Take fear, for instance. During my seminars I ask the audience, “How many of you would cite fear as your primary motivation for for success?” Not many people put up their hand. However, then I ask, “How many of you would cite security as one of your main motivators for success?” Almost everyone puts up his or her hand. But get this–security and fear are both motivated by the same thing. Seeking security comes from insecurity, which is based in fear.

So, will more money dissolve the fear? You wish! But the answer is absolutely not. Why? Because money is not the root of the problem; fear is. What’s even worse is that fear is not just a problem, it’s a habit. Therefore, making more money will only change the kind of fear we have.

Think 2

What jumped out at me here is “fear habit”. We all have fear habits and they prevent us from being who we truly are and living our best life. This is such a huge topic that I’m going to dedicate my entire next post to this topic, but I think this is the answer to some of my opening questions.

I think the greatest thing holding people back from achieving greater success is fear and fear exists in the unhealthy subconscious programming. We need to spend more time being conscious and really awaken to who we are and what we really want.

Through the management of “programmed” perceptions, the mind controls our biology, behaviour and gene activity. The seat of thinking, freewill, personal identity, and our wants, desires and intentions is a small 40 “bit” self-conscious processor that controls our lives only 5% of the day or less. The million times more powerful subconscious mind controls 95% or more of our lives using “habits” derived from instincts and the perceptions acquired in our life experiences.  ~Bruce Lipton

I’m starting to dream up creative ways to teach this information to others, with a focus on creativity and art. Not just because I’m an artist, but because I think we are smack dabble in the middle of a huge awakening in consciousness and what the new man and new woman most need to know is how to tap into their creativity. How to fully engage the right side of their brains. The future demands it. Careers as we once knew them are changing, everything is going digital, and the people who are going to be in the highest demand are the creative thinkers. The one thing computers can’t do is imagine.

Also, in this time of awakening, what is it people most need? To feed their spirit, to sense something that stirs their soul, to feel moved, jolted, to have that rush of emotion flood their systems and remind them of their true divine nature. And who does that best? Artists! Artists can communicate that which cannot be spoken through creative expression. Artists can touch those places that can’t be explained and express them in a way that can be universally understood. Artists are professional dreamers and this is exactly what the world needs: people all over the planet dreaming up a new world. So put on your conscious thinking cap, start dreaming and…

“Dream up the kind of world you want to live in and dream out loud!” -Bono

BONO watermarked
This is absolutely one of my favorite drawings out of all the drawings I’ve ever done! I’ve been a fan of Bono and U2 since I was 10 years old. I am SO inspired by Bono’s writing, speaking, and his work with the ONE Campaign in Africa. He is an incredible human being and we can all learn so much from him!

The Two Minds

Hay House World Summit conversation between Bruce H. Lipton and Joan Borysenko continued:

There are two minds–interconnected–conscious mind and subconscious mind. The conscious mind is creative, it’s where all your wishes, dreams, desires, and positive thinking (which is creative) live.

Subconscious mind is like record/playback device, which is very important. It’s programming like learning how to walk and talk, so you can remember things you learn and do them automatically. Once you learn something, it’s recorded here so you can just playback at any time.

The conscious mind can control your wishes, desires, and biology, but it’s also not time bound–you can think about what you did last week, what you’re going to do next week, or solve a math problem. And here’s the trouble with this–if your conscious mind is not directed to the present, if the conscious mind is busy, then we default into our subconscious programming. So if you’re not paying attention, you’ll just replay old tapes, over and over and over.

The subconscious mind is FILLED with programs, but here’s the catch–THEY’RE. NOT. YOURS. They’re not programs for our wishes and desires. They’re programs that we downloaded by observing others! The first 6-7 years of our life we are operating in/at a lower EEG in a range called theta, which also happens to be hypnosis. So a child, until about the age of 7, is operating in this theta frequency, just RECORDING everything he or she sees. This is important because a child cannot not use his or her consciousness yet. Those first 6 or 7 years are spent in DOWNLOAD. You observe your family, your community, your culture, unconsciously. It’s just a recording and the recording begins at birth.

So this is the problem with defaulting into our subconscious minds. Primarily, these are recordings of OTHER people. They aren’t your wishes, your dreams, your desires, or how you would choose to think about anything. They are the ways of other people.

So there you are–a brain divided, yet interconnected. Conscious mind, YOU, where your dreams, desires, and everything you want to do and be lives. Subconscious mind, default mode, programs, recordings, home of your habits, it’s your default/habit mind. These basic programs, of which, are not even yours.

Here’s what science has found out:

On an average day, we are only operating from the conscious mind at about 5% percent at the most.

FIVE PERCENT!!!!

Why is this!?!?

Because the conscious mind, not being time bound, is always thinking past/future. So when the conscious mind is busy thinking, we shift into default-mode, which is primarily a series of tapes of other people’s programs and how they respond to life. And so often a lot of that programming is negative, disempowering, and self-sabotaging.

So about 5% of the day we are moving in the direction of our dreams and desires and positive thinking–and about 95% of the day we are operating from a pre-programmed database acquired from other people.

No wonder we have such a difficult time with life and no wonder so many of us are struggling, dreaming dreams, but can’t find our way to their realization. We are literally not in our right minds! 95% of the day I’m playing programs that aren’t even me and in no way support where I want to go, or what I want to do, or the cultivation of my dreams and desires!! And this is how we all operate.

This is why you hear all this talk of staying in the present moment, the NOW, and the importance of meditation. The real YOU, your authentic power, lies in the conscious mind. You have to awaken yourself, you have to transform your thinking. This I’ve known, but the 95/5 percent ratio of conscious mind to subconscious mind really put into perspective the URGENCY of cultivating awakening in myself and encouraging it in others. With our conscious mind we can not only change the programming in our subconscious mind, but we can transcend it by being HERE, NOW.

We are all creative beings, we’ve just been sitting around with our hands over our eyes complaining that its dark in here, because we can’t see through our own eyes from the subconscious realm we live in 95% of the time. I am just another American with a smartphone and access to the same plethora of social media that most everyone else has as well, which is more than enough to keep a person enesthitized to their conscious mind. However, we can use technology to our advantage. We can set reminders with positive affirmations to ping us throughout the day and bring us back to center. We can set obstacles in our path at home to remind us to get back to center. I create affirmation art that I hang on the wall, I set candles out in odd places to remind myself to meditate/pray on my dreams and desires, and I set intentions for what I want to accomplish all day long.

I have loved my dreams since high school, but I want to taste it, smell it, see it, touch it, NOW. We all do! And the only way to realize dreams is to be and love your full, whole self, right here, right NOW, and consciously, daily breathe life into those dreams through your connection to your own breath. Pray, meditate, do whatever you have to do to begin engaging your conscious mind more, get to know YOU, fall in love with YOU, and pursue those thoughts and feelings that flood you with JOY. Awaken and Follow. Your. Bliss.

What’s in a Thought?

Science has proven that we are not controlled by our genes. Its called epigenetics-

1. the study of the process by which genetic information is translated into the substance and behavior of an organism: specifically, the study of the way in which the expression of heritable traits is modified by environmental influences or other mechanisms without a change to the DNA sequence.
image
It is our beliefs, our perceptions, that determine what manifests in our lives. We determine our genetic expression based on how we perceive the world around us. We are the masters of our lives.
For example, 33% of people with the genes for cancer never develop cancer. Why? Lifestyle.
image
I think just about everyone has heard of the placebo effect in which people are given sugar pills, told they’re medicine, and recover from their ailment purely from the belief that they were receiving a powerful drug. But have you heard of the nocebo effect? It’s the reverse of the placebo effect, like getting bit by a non venomous snake, believing it was poisonous and dying. That’s a dramatic example, but that’s how powerful the mind is, it can create Heaven on earth or it can literally kill us. The nocebo effect is how we worry ourselves sick, it’s how stress creates illness in the body, and it’s something we all greatly need to understand in order to stay/become healthy!
image
BIOLOGY and THOUGHT
Thoughts give rise to emotions, which release different neurotransmitters, which in turn release different neurohormones, which all translate into changing the tissue culture medium, in other words the fluid that bathes your cells. How many cells do we have? 50 trillion or so, more than you could count to in a lifetime.
So every second, every thought is releasing different neurohormones that go into the fluid that bathes your cells, bind to the cell membrane, which sends a signal to  the nucleus of the cell, which can actually change the way the DNA makes proteins. This is where epigenetics come into play.
We have thousands and thousands of thoughts every day, and each is translated by your nervous system into a chemical response. It’s a simple thing.
THINK LOVE and GROW HEALTHY
If you close your eyes and open them to see someone you love before you, the thoughts and feelings of love you manifest in your head turns into chemistry and most people are very aware of this–when they’re so in love and they feel so in love, they’re so healthy.
A thought of love is translated by the brain into the release of some really wonderful hormones like oxytocin and dopamine, creating pleasure and growth hormones that cause cells to become really, really healthy. So when you SEE someone you love, you FEEL someone you love and the chemistry of love creates ultimate health!
Now if a person opens their eyes and sees something that scares them, they’re going to release whole different kind of chemistry in the body. Stress hormones and inflammatory cytokines are created and cause the cells to go into protection-mode and wall themselves off against a threat. These stress hormones create butterflies in the stomach, anxiety, nervousness, and in that process what you’re really feeling is a chemical reaction released by the brain–and this is altering our genetic activity. This is why it’s a fundamental fact that stress is the greatest cause of illness on the planet!
This is good news! We are not helpless victims of our genetics. We can achieve ultimate health and wellness through deliberate thinking. We were born to love. We were all genetically coded for stardom by living love, by following our bliss. When live anything else, we suffer. And it is self-made suffering. We aren’t victims of circumstance, we are only victims of our own thinking. Change your thoughts and change your life, even change your genetics! Banish fear-based thoughts by deleting them mentally and reinserting thoughts derived from love. Follow. Your. Bliss.
